Chain linking gun actions stored in safe

What are your thoughts on using a steel chain and lock through gun actions to link and lock your guns stored in a safe?

    Redundant? Unnecessary? Useless?

If someone can get into your safe, what good is a chain around your guns? They obviously have the tools to get through any chain you could be using. If they got into your safe because they had the combo and didn't need to cut their way into it, a chain still wouldn't do much since bolt cutters or a hack saw are so easy to get.

Sounds like a great way to make getting to your own guns inconvenient and scratching the hell out of them for no reason.

If you have so little faith in your safe...... you need a better safe!

          ^^^ This.

If you are that worried, get insurance to replace your firearms.

I have some guns that don't fit in my safe.(I know I need another safe). They are in a nice wood cabinet.I have a nylon coated cable running thru the actions padlocked to an eyebolt in the cabinet.

Bolts are all in the safe.Consider this temporary. Will only slow them down.

Yep, if they manage to break through, I'd want to make it even more of a pain and for them to risk destroying it to remove the chain. Better a damaged, marred gun in their hands.

But if they can cut your safe open, what would stop them from simply cutting the chain? Seriously, ask yourself which is more difficult.

Also, if they just took the whole safe to work on at a different location then it wouldn't matter at all. Putting weaker security(the chain) behind stronger security(the safe) is a waste of time and materials.

You run more risk of damaging/marring your own guns with the chain, than the 2-5 seconds it will take for the thieves to cut your chain off. You're also assuming they'd care if the guns were scratched up after all the crap flying inside the safe from cutting it open. If they sawed your safe open, they'll use the saw on the chain. If they torched your safe open, they'll use a torch on the chain. The chain will take seconds to get through. If they already had the safe combo, they'll use some bolt cutters and get through the chain in a few seconds.

If they can break into a safe i dont think a chain will be a problem for them. Sounds like it would cause you more of a problem then any would-be thief.

Consider welding them together and to the safe itself.

If some one Breaks into your safe and steals Your Guns You will regret not doing it.
If you feel It will make your guns Safer Do it. If you dont then dont. I am personaly not sure if it will make it safer or not but You will have an extra piece of mind when you are away.
