    Serial Number Check

Is there a RELIABLE online venue to check the serial number of a firearm to see if it has ever been reported stolen? I see quite a few listings in Google, but want to know if any are good/legit.

    Thanks.

There are multiple firearms serial number check websites. I was just wondering if any of them were reputable, or if they were LEO's fishing for stolen guns.

dont think those sites collect info from LEO reports, think the serial #'s are entered by the person that lost the firearm.. so it wont list 90% of the stolen weapons .. LEO is your best bet not really sure why you are asking unles you want to do a illegal transfer as any weapon going threw DROS will be checked and as the buyer you hold no liability

And if you own firearms that were acquired prior to all the recent gun laws, just what would your expert recommendation be to find out?

There are hundreds of thousands of guns that were bought, sold, traded, or otherwise disposed of or acquired prior to all of the recent laws. Also, guns over 50 years old don't require a transfer, yet may be stolen. To the best of my knowledge, most LEO's don't want to spend their time running serial numbers for John Q. Public. Unless, of course, you are privy to information I don't have. If so, please share...........
