Standard AR front piece, FH or Comp?

Just want to make 100% sure. I think this is a comp but can someone confirm/ deny?

Looks like an A2 flash hider - opening at the end is wider than the diameter of the opening on the barrel. The "standard" muzzle device that comes on most uppers by default is an A2 flash hider.

Be careful what Comps, you get for your featureless. Some have flash suppressing abilities and therefore could also violate SB23.

And to your question, that looks like an A2 flashhider. Definitely a no-go and I would seperate the upper from the lower until you get that thing off.

That is an A2 Birdcage Flash Hider and is No-Go on a featureless build.

Before picking a replacement make sure to consult the guide posted above that I wrote.

Use a wrench and elbow grease.

Of course you didn't mention the barrel length, if it's under 16" it could be permanently mounted(and you'd need to have a gunsmith permanently mount a long enough comp to bring the total barrel length back over 16")

Merc is correct. A good barrel will be pinned and without a trained eye you will not see the pin. Drop a cleaning rod into the barrel with the BCG full closed on an EMPTY chamber. Mark the place where it comes out.

If the rod then measures 16", the muzzle device is pinned in place.
If the rod measures 17+", its just torqued on really good.

Comps and breaks have an exit hole nearly the same size as the bore, they do this to trap and utilize the gas. Flash hiders have wide open exits to allow fast unrestricted air mixture causing the fuel to air ratio to extinguish the fireball.
