want to know how to start up a private range

im sorry for not knowing exactly where to start this thread at. Me and my uncle have been shooting at his private land for squite sometime now here in northern california. he lives in napa county in american canyon. he is 3 miles away from any residence and his next door neighbor is a junkyard company. he owns exactly 16 acres i believe. we brought a couple of friends there before and we all thought of maybe starting a private gun club/range on the property. i want to know all the legality loop holes of what i got to do to get this PRIVATE range among members only going. we already have a 100 yard berm made which we shoot at. and we are in construction of making a 300 yard range for members!. please any input or advice would be nice. if we do completely go through with it. we decided. we would only open it to 50 members only. thank you

Sorry I don't have info on getting your private range started, however, I do seem to recall talking to someone who mentioned a private range in Fairfield or Vacaville. They had a yearly membership fee. On top of that each person going with you had to pay an "entrance" fee.

You reserved your day in advanced but I'm not quite sure how payments were made. I believe you were also required to pick up after yourself and keep it as clean or cleaner than you found it.

Good luck in getting your private range setup. I'm sorry I don't have any useful info for you with regards to getting this legally setup.

Please keep me in the loop as I wouldn't mind possibly becoming a member.

    Cheers!

You first have to apply to the county for permit to build a range. And put up your one MILLION dollar liability bond. That's the easy part, should only cost around $25,000 by the time you get your preliminary environmental impact study done, that's if they don't find gay grey Marshmallow eating mini Squirrels on your property. Then you are SCREW-ED.

I would ask other Range owners what hoops they had to jump thru.

My concern is that LEAD is hard to clean up and the EPA might give you some problems.

        Good Luck!

The nra has people and materials devoted to answering your questions and helping you setup a range, I would contact them.
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.
