Long Term Storage

Gonna be putting my rifle away for long term storage. What would be the best way to treat the inside of barrel so its safe? was thinking grease would be pretty good as long as i completely clean it when I am able to use it again.

Cosmoline is about the most famous protectant for long term storage.

Barring that, a good coat of any oil should suffice. I'd be concerned about keeping it nice and dry more than anything. Air tight storage with a good amount of dessicant is your friend.

Where do you get cosmaline? Would standard grease you can get at a automotive store work just as good? The rifle is gonna be dry and protected....just wanna do everything i can because its gonna be a while before i can check on it again.

Check out hoppes gun grease. Specifically for long term storage.
