I've never shot one, but have only heard bad things about them. Consensus is that if you want a .22 plinker that might transfer over to your 1911, get a Ruger 22/45 (has the same grip angle and location of safety/etc as a 1911).

I was assuming you were talking about the GSG 1911 in .22lr, not a rifle. If you're talking about a rifle, forget my post

If you did mean the GSG 1911, I've heard bad things from several owners and I'd get the Ruger 22/45 instead http://www.ruger.com/products/2245/index.html

EDIT: Big 5 doesn't sell pistols.

            Don't mind me

I have an older GSG-SD, it has been a great plinker. Just as reliable as my Nylon 66 and 10/22.

I'd think 10% off does not applies to ATI', please confirm.

                    I own a GSG .22, it's a huge pile of SH17. And I bought mine, when they were $500.00

It has been reliable, but the top rail wiggles to the point were I had to bed it. The barrel loosens and wiggles every few hundred rounds, its a royal PITA to clean properly, etc.

My brother in law was always harping about how great his GSG was. He never won our local .22 rimfire matches. He finally got rid of it and uses a Marlin tube fed gun and now wins quite often.

I also like the statement that 10/22s have more options.

They look cool, that is about all they have going for them.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

I'd go with a 10/22 and this stock. 10/22 has a better reputation and you can change the stock at will. The GSG is a one trick pony with a bad rep.

The 10% off coupon DOES apply to the .22 ATI rifles. It does not apply to any of the 5.56 rifles that some Big 5 stores stock.

I have GSG 522 with the GSG5 retro kit and a claw scope mount from Rrages. The scope mount it comes with does wiggle and isn't worth spit. I have a Bushnell Trophy Red Dot on it.

I try not to like it, but it's accurate and fun and people at the range always pay attention when I shoot it. Letting kids shoot it brings them a real thrill.
