    Unstable Person

Ok first off this is going to be a weird thread. I used to work in video games and there are a lot of unstable people in that industry. I got out and I have a friend who still works in games. He works with this guy who is very out there. This guy kinda gets off every time there is a school shooting. EVERY TIME, he cheers about it, and keeps a kill count. This bugs the crap out of me, not only that, if this moron went all copy cat it would make us all responsible gun owners look bad. Is there a way out there to prevent this guy from getting his own legal firearms.

Well, if you think there is a credible threat, report him. But, bear in mind that this guy is going to get raked across the coals based on your report. So, don't do it unless you truly feel like this guy may likely go out and shoot some folks.

Does he currently own guns? Has he talked about plans to perpetrate a mass shooting? Is it really a credible threat or is this guy just a little loser who likes to feel powerful when talking about killing people.

Sounds like at the least he needs to get his *** kicked.

If you have them in your area, a service center would be an ideal location to report this individual. Have your friend go to one of them and they should assign a POP officer to investigate and talk to the individual. If he is truly a 5150 in possession of a firearm then obviously a crime has been committed, but since we can't confirm his mental well being (on paper), no crime has essentially been committed. By reporting this person you are hopefully putting the ball in LE's court to act on it.

        That sounds rather suspicious.

If you think that he is a credible threat, there are several ways to report him such that he can be checked into.

You can't buy a firearm with an RO on you I believe.......

Hardly a fair comparison. And I think it *is* our business to look after ourselves - this guy's friend is potentially in danger. How do you figure GammaRe would feel if this nutcase actually *did* shoot up his workplace and kill his friend?

You can't buy or possess a firearm with an RO against you, IF you follow the gun control laws. Which we all know some nutjob will follow to the letter.

Some of the WORSE advise I've heard.

People who do not get involved in the welfare and safety of their fellow citizens are one of the reasons these mass shooting aren't stopped before they begin. People who see someone who shows these unstable and potentially dangerous traits has a DUTY to take action.

It is the same as seeing someone attacked on the street. Do you just walk away or do you take action (calling the police, shouting a warning, physical intervention). Knowing someone is possibly going to do something to harm other people should make you take some action. Maybe just talking to the person to clear up his/her current & future intentions will work. Maybe alerting the authorities to a possible threat to the public safety is in order.

People who do nothing are part of the problem, not the solution.

Thank you - I see we both wholeheartedly agree. The only danger in my mind is taking it too far and getting super paranoid on everyone - sort of like if anti's considered every gun owner as a potential murderer. Just ain't so. But when you have behavioral evidence that something is amiss, I think it is irresponsible to turn a blind eye.

i am sure we have all said something that didn't agree with someone else. lets call the cops on everyone.

lets say this guy is serious.

is calling the cops going to stop him?

someone wants to go out and make the news nothing is going to stop them. you might delay it by 72 hours but thats it.

i would bet my balls that guy is FOS.

also there is no mention of said guy saying he is going to shoot up a school.

how many times have you heard someone say "lets nuke the middle east" or "we should wipe them out" do you call the FBI on all of those guys?

there is a time to call the cops but this does not seem like that time.
