I own an XD .40 Svc. I probably have around 400 rounds through it. I've noticed that the captive recoil guide rod is getting pretty nicked up on the end that snaps into the barrel lug. Is that fairly normal? It has always been seated correctly etc.. I don't know if this is normal wear and tear or if there's a problem. It's getting pretty scratched up to the point where I'm seeing a lot of silver marks (nicks) all around that end. Thanks guys!

XD .40 Svc. Question About Recoil Guide Rod!

im not sure with out seeing pics, but the xd guide rods are a weak point. Do as i did with my .40 service and go to www.pistolgear.com and order a dons guide rod($25). You will have the option of picking out the weight of the spring which will change how the gun behaves. Factory is 18#, i went with the 22# spring and it took away some of the .40 "flip"."Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six"

I got one of those too. The other upside is you can then use 1911 recoil springs which are available everywhere.im not sure with out seeing pics, but the xd guide rods are a weak point.
