I've owned a Beretta Px4 9mm Storm for the last few months
The top half of the gun (slide) is made out of your normal metal and the lower half is of a polymer construction with metal inserts where it interacts with the slide rail
My question is this
Is the oiling technique any different for the polymer section of the handgun, or, should I apply oil on the polymer section of the rail, just as I do other, non polymer, firearms?
The reason I ask is that I cleaned the gun last month, including a light oiiling around the rail section of the polymer lower, and, last night, when I took the gun out to inspect it, I noticed that the polymer area seemed dry, as if it had absorbed the oil and needed more lubrication
The slide is still well oiled, especially in the rail cut out area, so would that be enough, or would it be more effective to grease the polymer section instead of lightweight oil, as not to absorb so much? I guess I might add/ask, is it even necessary to lubricate the polymer section of the railing, or, would keeping the metal slide lubricated do just as well?
Thnx
