Need a little out of state clarification

I moved to Cali little over a year ago from Texas. Looks like i'm staying here. I have a few rifles back in Texas (no assualt weapons) i want to bring here now that I'm staying. Let me get this straight cause I'm either missing it or it's not clear to me on the DOJ page.

If i have the weapons shipped to me here it has to be through an FFL but if I go back to texas and bring my second car out here and bring the rifles with me I am legal right? That's what i'm gathering. I have to go bring stuff back with me anyway.

Now.... rifles are not registered here in Cali unless they are Assult weapons or these big 50 cal things right? (registration is over for those, i know)
But if I bring a hand gun into the state i have to let the DOJ know correct?

I'm 100% free of anything that would not pass a background check so the DOJ just takes my 19 bucks and knows i have the hand gun? This state is wacky compared to Texas. Laws are so liberal there and what do you know, less hand gun homicides. Why is that?

    Thanks,

    C

Yes, longguns are not registered in Cali (only 50's and AW's)
But if you bring a handgun back, you must register it with the state form...
