    eBay 1911 Magazine Scam Warning

    Hi All,

I do not like to talk badly about others. It's simply not in my nature.

However, this scammer is someone to be watched.

I sell a few of my sights on eBay to keep myself visible. It's another advertising outlet as far as I see it.

Now and again I see a good deal, like real 1911 Metalform Elite magazines for $21. They are there, and they are the real deal.

Recently I purchased what was advertised as a military surplus 1911 magazine with tapered feed lips, in package, etc. I ran the serial numbers and they came back as a contract overrun from Metalform.

Going off this information, I ordered one.

The magazine I received is a counterfeit and nothing like what was pictured. The serial number is one that is no longer in use but widely copied in the better Chinese knockoffs to make them look legit. The feed lips, which were the main attraction since they were advertised (and shown) as tapered and therefore full controlled feed, showed up as wadcutter feed lips.

This is a magazine, the twin of which is sitting in my bucket of samples of knockoff and cheap magazines. I do buy those knowing what they are, so as to photograph them to help others.

I contacted the guy and requested he revise his ad to include that these are not original military surplus, but rather knockoffs, and to revise the pictures.

Instead, what he did was told me to return it on my dime (not worth it) and he'd refund my money. The pictures now reflect the fake serial and manufacturer's numbers shown on the fake mag, but he's still adverting it as military surplus.

I told him I'd just report it to eBay and let them deal with him. I'm a seller and know how they can come down on sellers. I think the thing that keeps them off me is that I received a call from them once telling me I was going to lose some status or other if I did not comply with a new draconian rule, and I told the rep that they were just a sideline to me, that I didn't need them, and I'd pull my products before I went along with a rule I didn't agree with.

    Haven't been bothered since!

Anyway, the seller's ID is 1fastonyx. His feedback is only 6, but was 100% before I bombed him. Now it's down in the 87th percentile.

***** of it is that if he had simply said they were cheap Chinese knockoffs that work for range mags, I'd probably still have bought one to use as a range mag. The other one works OK with ball, even though it's not controlled feed as I would like.

Just so you know, Ebay sellers can change their usernames & have at least 6 accounts.

Call the postal police. That's where old Nazis work now. They WILL get him for using the mail for fraud.

Meh. No they won't. We're just little folk. I personally busted a meth head stealing my mail. Common and large problem in rural areas. Rarely caught and I hand him over on a silver platter. S.O. hit him with a probation violation but the postal service declined to prosecute. He was probably out by Monday. The postal authorities are useless to people like us, they just plain don't care.

Happened to me with a boresnake thought I was getting a good deal until I found out it was a knock off. Well opened up a case and got my money back.
