    20 gauge for Girlfriend???

I had planned on buying my girlfriend a 20 gauge pump shotgun for Christmas but am not sure now. I was planning on the standard Remington Express or the Mossberg but I ran across an over/under that may fit the bill. I found the Stoeger Condor in a 20 gauge and it got me thinking this may be a better option.

The only time she will really use it is the occasional trap session or when we are just out target shooting. She loves shooting my shotgun but the recoil is kind of rough on her, so I was thinking a 20 gauge would be a good solution and it being a heavier over/under could be beneficial aswell.

I guess my question is, What are your thoughts on the Condor?Decent gun?Problems?Thoughts?Opinions?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

MY suggestion would be a 12 gauge autoloader. My wife will swear all day that a pump or breach loading 20 gauge smacks the shoulder harder than a mossberg 930 (12 gauge) with a limbsaver on it. We just got Winchester SX3 sporting adjustable and that baby is really a soft shooter. She put 75 though it on Sunday.

Where do you live? I believe even Oaktree has autoloaders that you can rent.

12 gauge will make things easier to hit, and the ammo is easier to find.

My girl has a 870 in 20 ga. She likes it as she is small, but she can still use my 12 if she wants - just not too long or with anything high base

When my girlfriend was shopping for a shotgun she was planning to buy a 20 gauge because of recoil concerns. The guy at the gunshop (might have been Frank Tabor) said it was better to get a 12 gauge and just shoot light loads. He said guys are always buying 20 gauge shotguns for their wives/girlfriends to shoot trap and the women get frustrated and give up on the sport because they can't hit anything with a 20 gauge.

Is "Remmy" the name of the guy working on the assembly line at Norinco's Qiqihar factory?

Yes, 20 gauge is good for frail women.

                  ><

A 20ga 870 with target loads will have less recoil then a 12ga 870 with target loads .....well , sometimes yes and sometimes no.

A little info can go a long way

She will not be able to tell the difference between an improperly fitted 20g and a properly fitted 12g. Whatever you do, make sure the gun fits her properly. Also, 12g AA X-tra Lite loads are always an option.

No, its Remington. One of the other companies Freedom Group owns. its assembled in the US. and here is some of the cool things about it vs the 870,

                      Metal trigger guard
                      Machined Extractor & ejector
                      Nicer Recoil pad
                      Thicker steel receiver
5+1 capacity without the mag tube plug
All 870 parts will interchange except the barrels.
