I guess I could have said my earlier post differently. I live out in duck and pheasant territory, and they are in season right now. Every morning this time of year i hear a lot of shots going off in all directions. The first ones of the season get me a bit on edge if they are close, but I wont go low crawling anywhere. I suppose if the shotgun killer was on the way from the neighbors I would be done, but I was told by a fortune teller I would die with a donkey, so I don't worry.
If you hear fireworks/gunshots it is OK to be worried till you figure it out. Panic shouldn't happen until rounds are hitting near you or you identify a threat.

if your family is against guns, them (IMO) the proper thing is to respect it and not get one...when you move out, then get as many as you want.

usually guys that still live at home with mom and pop...AND own guns....look like this...

I am 19, have shots guns at the range since I was 14, so I am only used to sounds from indoors. My post was pretty quickly written so the information was a bit much ha ha. I do own airsoft guns, I play against other people, at the moment its the only thing I can realistically train with. I watch videos and tend to practice from there for a while. My parents wont allow me any firearms till my sister (15) is out of the house which may be either in a couple months or until I move out so the airsoft guns I own at the moment, since I also dont have money for training classes, what I have at home is the next best thing.

When you get your own gun you'll get better at telling the difference in sound. But all in all I wouldn't criticize you for trying to protect yourself.

I was kind of joking. There isn't a chart you can refer to to see if you have PTSD. You would know.

Have you been to war? have you been violently assaulted with firearms or explosives? Have you been somewhere when others have been assualted with firearms or explosives?

if the answer to these is no, then you don't have PTSD. If it is yes then you need to see a psychologist. PTSD doesn't just happen over night...you have to fit a specific criteria of symptoms related to a traumatic event including recurring and intrusive thoughts about the event, avoidance, numbing, etc. There are many people out there who suffer greatly from PTSD so I wouldn't toss it around like it's something you can catch and get rid of...it's a debilitating psychological impairment that requires extensive psychotherapy to overcome....




and until the windows start exploding, there's no need to low crawl...just duck and move fast to a safe spot where you can determine the threat level. Yes, better safe than sorry, but too much safety isn't always a good thing either. I'm sure that the zombies will be impressed with your ability to clear a jam and load a new mag with just your feet, but put down the Magpul apocalypse training videos and start with basic threat assessment training.
