The bulk my pistol shooting for over 10 years has always been with quality factory reloads. When I had a membership at Firing Line, it was with the stuff they sold. Lately its been with Bullet_man911's stuff. All have been problem free.

I believe this happened to me today. I didn't even notice it since it was on the last round (except that the slide didn't rack open). I tried to load another mag and it wouldn't load. Finally figured out there was a bullet stuck in it. I popped it out with a screwdriver when I got home.

So, my question is... Is the barrel ok? I don't see that it was stressed any. The bullet isn't deformed.

These were home defense reloads that I bought at a gun show. I guess I won't be using them...

      Thanks

I had no prob with miwal or lax reloads. used 3k maybe.

I reload my own. I love it. I broke even on 9mm around 5k. other calibers is much faster.

I wouldn't use a screwdrivers to remove a bullet. its too easy to score the barrel. Wood dowel.

I don't know how a brand of ammo will mess up a gun. maybe a specific extractor issue? or feeding problems? #dunno but i doubt real damage

once I got it figured in, I'd trust my reloads any day. not another guys though. you have to be vigilant.

cheap ammo sucks for other reasons but not for damage

Cheap ammo that's factory ammo (Tula, Wolf, WWB, Aguila, Brown Bear, etc) I've found to work fine in almost all guns. I see no reason that you couldn't use the cheap ammo in your handgun.

So, the moral of the story: Stay away from cheap reloads, and stick with cheap factory ammo!
            +1
            I agree.

I don't shoot reloads anymore. Did for years. Wish I hadn't even though nothing serious ever happened.

I just stick with quality ammo these days. I don't shoot that often anymore so I'd rather not even deal with cheap anything. Rather just go with factory ammo and not think about the small stuff and focus on training.

I also shoot mostly 9mm for pistol rounds. If shooting .45 or 10mm, I'd reload.

I'd load my own for top rifle accuracy as well.

I used to reload about 500-1,000 rounds a week of .45acp for three years because that's what I'd shoot every week. Now with kids I buy reloads from a reputable source, but will probably get back into reloading soon. Nice thing about making your own loads is you could adjust the powder, so you could customize your target loads. Just don't get distracted when your reloading because it sucks, when you don't realize your powder hopper went empty Squibs will destroy your gun if you follow them up with a live round.

For some reason I've just hoarded the nice factory ammo over the years and rarely shoot it.

Personally, I'd avoid Wolf and Tula ammo because the cases are steel with some kind of coating on it. When the barrels get hot the coating sticks to the inside of the barrel and will break extractors. Any of the brass or nickel case factory ammo seems to work fine.

If you shoot often, reloads are more economical. Nowadays, quality ammo have gone up in price. With shipping cost, price per round of quality ammo can really add up, especially the .45s, 5.56

Miwall and LAX reloads are somewhat dependable I would think.

Never buy reloads for self defense. The reason is your gun is useless or you hurt yourself when you clear the jam and the gun blows up in your face due to a squib.A good quality factory load should be used for self defense.
