    AK optic placement question.

After watching the second presidential debate, my wife told me I should tap into our savings and buy the AK I have allways wanted.

I orderd the Arsenal/FIME SGL21 od green from Riflegear.

I have a spare Docter mini red dot that came off my ACOG and I wanted to use it on my AK.

Where is the best location for a red dot optic on an AK platform? On the front by the gas tube? On the top of the dust cover/rear sight area? Or by utilizing a rail mount?

This is my first AK and I never shot one with optics. Any input will be appreciated.

I run SGLs with Ultimaks and Aimpoint T1s on them just past the rear peep/flip sight(Mojos for me). Works great.

Is the location of your optic around the same place as that of MI's Universal AK rail?

I was worried that with the red dot so far forward, the viewing window will be too small?

Is your set up a co-witness?
