Figured some of your gunners would be interested in a review of the Barska safe.
I won't go into the details about the dimensions and weights, etc. You can look those up yourself.
Rifle Safe
The Barska Rifle Safe is a basic rifle safe. It has mounting holes on the back and bottom of the unit. I used the bottom mounting holes in my closet. The safe comes with a 4-gun foam divider as well (which I ended up not using, as explained below). The unit can get front heavy with the door open, especially if you mount things like magazines to the door, like I did. Obviously mounting it to the floor prevents it form tipping over, but if you dont have it bolted down, beware of this. I used industrial strength velcro to mount my AK magazines and my home defense shotgun shells for ease of access.
I lined the inside with gray felt with spray adhesive to give it a "more expensive" look and of course, for protection purposes. I also added a motion sensor light to the bottom of the shelf so when I reach for a long gun, the light activates.
Currently, I have some mags on the top shelf and I have a shotgun w/shotshell saddle and a 10/22 with a scope. The guns themselves will not fit in the normal configuration with the foam, so what I am doing is putting them sideways into the safe. In this orientation, you can fit the guns with scopes, etc. I do not think you can get an AK with a 30-round magazine regardless, but I will update this and let you know when I get my AK on Wednesday. Barska said you can fit 4 guns, but I think you might only be able to get 3 comfortably. You can probably get 4 if you have the rifles as stock with no scopes, accessories, etc.
Overall, I like the safe, especially for my purposes which is a small collection and nothing more. The biometric lock portion functions flawlessly and with over 100+ openings, I have yet to experience an error where I believe the reader had an issue. Other failures were because I had crap on my fingertips. I recommend to get ALL fingertips programmed.
