Glow in the dark paint ?

Yesterday I applied some white touch up paint on the front sight of my RIA 1911 and kaboom I got $5 contrast sights. Now I'm looking for some glow in the dark green paint to make it a $10-15 quasi night sight. I know some of you do this so I want to see what you guys recommend.

If it works out well I will apply the same treatment to my SVT-40. Masking tape and some paint just might do wonders.

Paint might work but won't stay lit for long like NS will..

If you don't mind retouching it every so often go for it. But it's a last resort thing and you get what you pay for.

Great feedback guys! Thanks a bunch. I'm going to try out those paints.

I'm aware that paint is not the best solution but it's the cheapest. I plan on selling my Rock Island as soon as my Les Baer is ready thus I'm reluctant to invest too much into an interim - practice gun. I'm getting a trigger job done, but that's about it.

I have thought about getting XS sights installed but it would cost me about $200 when it's all said and done. In my opinion that's a bit much on a gun I plan to sell in 5 months.

if you keep your gun in a well lit room, when it goes dark the sites will glow.... but keep your gun inside a safe where its dark.... think about it.

Kinda of a waste of time as radium paint has long been banned. Tritium night sights are the only practical option other then night vision.

I tried the glow-in-the-dark paint years ago and was terribly underwhelmed.

When I want night sights on a pistol I buy tritium.
