Stolen Firearms! Long Beach area, please help!

Not entirely sure if you guys can offer any help at all, but I've recently been the victim of a burglary and a few of my firearms went missing. Someone broke into our house, accessed my safe, and managed to get away with the following items. I know it's a slim chance to find these again, but I'm searching here, a few other forums, and craigslist for any leads. IF ANYONE happens to know anybody in the Long Beach/Los Angeles/Surrounding areas who is "bragging" or simply have knowledge of someone obtaining the following weapons, please send me a PM with ANY information, your help would be appreciated. The guns were in the Los Altos area of Long Beach, but they could have ended up anywhere around L.A, Riverside, Compton, Inglewood, etc.

    1. Stag Arms Model 1 AR-15 rifle. Has an aftermarket fore-grip mounted on it, not exactly sure what brand, but it's a smaller one. Along with it were the factory magazine, and 2 Magpul 10/25 magazines.

    2. Mossberg 500 Tactical Persuader pump-action 12 gauge shotgun. Standard with a pistol grip and shell holder on rear.

Like I said, I know it's a longshot, but I'm really desperate to find the person who took these. Already filed a police report, but please if anyone comes across an acquaintance or any person who claims to have just acquired these types of guns, please send me any information that could help. I just want my babies back.

    Thanks Calgunners!

Im a bit far away, so best of luck. How did they access your safe? I would start screening people you know first if the firearms is all that was taken

Hopefully you had the serial numbers and provided them to the police. Without those, you have almost no chance of getting them back.

Best of luck to you. I emailed a couple of old partners who work LASD Lakewood Station with the info you gave in case they encounter someone with tht type of gun who doesn't have a consistent story about how he got the guns. Gives them some bait to go fishing with.

Yeah, we provided the serial numbers to the police already, luckily I kept those stashed away in a location only I knew about. The entire story seems fishy to me so far, and here's why.

I actually don't live back home anymore, I moved to Australia for the year, and left about 7 weeks ago. My father and my sister still live back home, and the safe was a normal stack-on safe, which I had mounted in my fathers closet, bolted to the ground and wall for extra security. There are only 2 keys to the safe, one being on my father's keyring (which he had in his possession at all times), and a second being hidden extremely well. Now my father and my sister knew of its location. My father was out of town for a week, and my sister was home every day of that except Saturday, which she was visiting family in another city. Logically it seems like Saturday was the day it happened. Now a side door was left unlocked, and that's how they got in, because there were no other signs of forced entry. When my father arrived home today, the only reason he noticed anything was that some of my accessories were spilling out of the closet (a few gunlock keys, and my glock case).

Now he thinks something is up, so he checks the safe (which was still locked at this point). Opens up the safe, and finds that only 2 firearms are missing, while the other 3 are still there. So basically someone entered the back door, knew where the key was, opened the safe, took the firearms, closed the safe back up, re-locked it, and put the key back in its location. It was obviously an inside job.

My father isn't stupid enough to tell anyone about this key, but my sister on the other hand is. I'm 99% it was someone she knew, but not like directly linked to this burglary. She claims she knows nothing about this incident, but I feel like it's one of those friend of a friend found out kind of things and staked the place out.

I know it was my fault for trusting my own family, and I now have to deal with the consequences, but it's just hard being in another country right now and having to deal with this. I thank you guys for any help, and I know any of you in my shoes would love any kind of leads you could get as well.

Here's to hoping the thiefs are dumb enough to go around bragging about 2 newly acquired firearms.

You should also share the serial numbers with the gun stores local to the location of the theft. That way, if the bad guys try to sell them, the stores most likely to see them first will have a heads up.

Yeah that's a good idea actually. Although is it possible to forge the legal documents necessary to selling a firearm back to a licensed dealer? I assume not, but like you said, at least to give them a heads up just in case they come asking questions regarding it or whatever.

I'm watching craigslist like a hawk for parts too, because it seems the quickest cash would either be stripping it for every part other than the receivers to make a few hundred bucks, because otherwise they could only sell it to some other sketchball for a few hundred bucks as a complete firearm. I'm just hoping I get them back, because those were my prized possessions.

              Sorry for the loss.
Good luck to you. As long asyou had the serial numbers recorded, they may turn up sometime maybe.

I'm just hoping whoever took them didn't just stash them in a safe somewhere for some preparation to the "end all' scenario or something. From the info I've gathered though, I'm guessing the age group of the thief(s) was around 18-late 20's. Those are the people my sister hangs around, and as well as knowing their average intelligence levels, I'd say they can't wait to go showing these off to their friends and eventually slipping up.

It's just tough, because I couldn't bring the firearms with me to this country, so I had to entrust them to my family in the meantime. In retrospect, I should have entrusted them to my best friend who already owns several firearms and had the room in his safe for them, but for whatever reason I felt like my family was still the more trustworthy option.

I know in this particular situation the type of safe didn't matter, seeing as how they knew how to access it, but I'm definitely investing into a nice keypad entry safe upon my return to the States. Taking that pin to the grave with me.

As in "Rifleman's Assault Weapon" Raw? If so then no, it's not that fancy. It's just a basic, semi-auto chambered for .223 and 5.56x45mm Nato rounds. Edited the assault part out of the original post now, just a regular old AR-15.

No one, and I mean no one, has access to my safe. I die, the wife is calling a specialized locksmith. People slip. Maybe write down the combo somewhere so as not to forget and someone tossing the house comes across it. Lagged into the concrete and the wall and will never open it if someone else is in the room Nope, no one knows.

Definitely an inside job unless you left the safe unlocked. Regardless, i'm sorry to hear about your break in. Hope you get all your belongs back. Good luck.

You used the word "accessed". So, they didn't break into safe or? Curious. Maybe someone you knew that had the combo?

Yeah from the information I was given, the safe was locked when my father went to check it, which does require a key to do. So it was locked in the first place, unlocked to gain access, then relocked afterwards (so nice of them right? Wouldn't want anyone ELSE breaking in and getting the rest or anything).
