Not trying to be a debbie downer, but it does seem quite morbid to build a database of firearms used in shootings.
I'm only keeping a record of the guns used in high profile shootings for my own interest and personal consumption (of knowledge). I'm not gathering research for any group or trying to formulate any statistics from this.

Though, I guess if an anti were to bring up the "Ban assault weapons" argument, you could point out that in at least 75% of these shootings, AWs were not used. Take for example the Ruger Mini-14 (The "Ranch Rifle" as it is now known for all rifles made after 2005) that's been used in a few of these high-profile shootings. They claim it's an assault weapon but it only satisfies one "feature" out of at least two for it to trigger AW status in CA (Detachable magazines). This only applies if you do not modify it from the way it came from the factory. New Ranch Rifles (at least the ones with the wooden stock, the base model) do not come with flash hiders from the factory.

I can assure you, I only own one of the guns used in a couple of these shootings (not the actual one used, but a gun identical in make and model to them). A Ruger Ranch Rifle (Mini-14) with a wooden stock.

No I'm just saying at first it was a cool idea wanting high profile actual infamous historical shootings... But then the list turned into a pretty kudu any shooting google pulled up... Seal beach shooting..? That was a nobody nothing shooting... Might as well get the list of every homoside/murder in the US if that qualifies.

I think you should just keep decent standards and have shots heard around the US or world at least.. And I think having exact models and possibly the actual gun would be legit and have HUGE collector value... Forgot who but a famous mob boss' personal safe queen gun just sold for like $500,000... And that's just a gun he owned and had under his name.. Not even one that was used in a major crime or THE crime.. So the value of the gun would be insane..

But I'm just saying this went from high class model standards to any hooker we could find on harbor blvd standards.. Just sayin lol

        Thread kind of crapped.

Well, I was just pulling most of these off of Wikipedia via this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rampage_killers

Most of them give you links to their shootings.

And by "high profile", I meant anything that received wide media coverage when it happened.

James Huberty(San Ysidro McDonalds Massacre): Israeli Military Industries Uzi Model A Carbine, Browning Hi-Power, Winchester 1200

I remember watching news coverage as this was going down. This incident made me a lifelong supporter of concealed carry.

Port Arthur massacre in Austraila. The defective human being used a Colt AR-15 and used a FN FAL IIRC.
A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.

you're likely referring to one of Clyde Burrow's and Bonnie Parker's (of Bonnie and Clyde infamousy) firearms - if I remember correctly, they weren't safe-queens - it was one of the actual firearms in their possession when they were killed, and he was hardly a mob boss
