what new HD ammo should i use?

i will be moving into a apartment soon. up until now i really did not have to worry about rounds over penetrating walls. but now there is someone directly above me and another person to the left of my place. how do those glazer safety slugs work or how about mag safe ammo? i am using a Glock 17. i am a good shot and practice with the gun regularly. currently it is loaded with Winchester Ranger T's. they will probably cut through a few apartments if one misses a target if you are living in a apartment now, what do you keep in your HD gun?

Cor-Bon 115 Grain has some good expansion & less penetration in light cover like thin plywood or drywall. If you are really worried about it buy some different ammo & do some tests on stuff they use to build homes like plywood & drywall. Nothing except frangible ammo will be 100% certain to not overpenetrate. That said, a lighter weight bullet will have less penetration than a heavier one will.

You can also tweek your bullets by reducing it's weight &/or adding more flutes. If you do that make sure you test & adjust the powder charge & velocity. Make sure they still feed & function OK.

any round that will penetrate decently into a body will go through drywall
            accept that.

stay away from magsafe/glaser. not enough penetration and your gun may not cycle them well

your best case is to keep practicing and miss less

Stick with the Ranger Talons. GREAT round

Any 9mm will cut through a wall like it's not even there. Glaser will go right through several walls as will Magsafe if they do not go through a liquid medium (person) to fragment.

3" nails in barrel in front of bullet. About 8 should do it.

                    Just don't miss...

Use your ranger t's and just get more range time it's you responsibility to be proficient..

I see this all too often people worried about the miss more than the hit. Why are you willing to put your life at risk for a bullet that hopefully won't over penatrate and not be efficient on the attacker..? So you might have just sprayed your neighbor with debris or only gone through 2 of her walls instead of 3 but the bullets you did land didn't stop your attacker and you are now dead...

Use low recoil full HD ammo.. Don't risk your life for a what if.. Worry about that later.. Your life and issue at hand is #1..

And because I know some expert is going to challenge my way of thinking with their perfect know all plan ans because their view is different they feel the need to yell blastfamy and have a pissing contest. This is MY take on HD... So take it for what it's worth.

Guard dog ammo is designed to pass threw walls not be stopped by them.

I used Win Ranger T that my LAPD friend gave me... That's his service ammo.

I read somewhere that if you use the same rounds as the the local PD, there will be less legal issues when you used the firearm to defend yourself.

Plus it's reasonably priced so I also bought a few hundred to test and practice on all my defensive firearms.

If you want to be certain that you won't overpenetrate, use frangible ammo

I lived in an apartment for a couple of years and had the same concern. What I finally settled on was the decision to use hip shots. That way the rounds go into the ground in fairly short order in the event of a miss (assuming that you're on the ground floor).
