Need some advice on an ak (type) weapon

My wife and I went in to look for an ak today. After looking at the saiga that was in .223, And a couple more. The guy pulls out a M&M?? We like it a lot. I can use ak-47 magazines OTB, It has a rail in the front for a rds, And has nice irons. It has a nice non-traditional handguard as well. As far as looks and feel, It has us sold. I'm trying to look up more information before I go and make the purchase on friday (He is holding it) But I wanted to know what calgunners think about it? It will be $781 otd. They are $600 shipped on buds, And after the transfer fee + tax, Gas to get to my ffl (40 miles round trip) it wouldn't save me that much. Plus I'm supporting a local gun shop. What do you guys think? Its a M&M, From my reading it seems to come from the same place they make WASR's.

Assuming you checked it for function, sight cant, function and construction and it passed your test.

Yeah it does. But if buds is selling for $600 shipped. And that is without dros and taxes. It's not that bad. I was more towards a saiga. But after conversion, dros, magazines, tax, BB, It wont be much cheaper. Plus my time is limited lately. So it basically balances it out. But I will admit, I was kinda looking forward for a weekend project

Everything was perfect. It did seem a little dry. But other than that it was solid. I am no ak expert but it seemed right. The trigger was nice otb as well. The first thing I did when he told me it was from the same folks who made wasr's was check for canted sights. They were just right. I like the fact that this gun had a rail already on there for a rds if I choose to do so.

Hey man we've all been there.. And don't always follow buds sometime their guns are the same price as my local FFL and sometimes (rarely) they are super cheap... So buds isn't the best to go by being no where near local.. And if you want a weekend project check out the classifieds you can probably find a good AK for sub $600 and possibly a better one or one for dirt cheap in not so good shape you can work on..

But I havnt heard much about MM rifles but assume they are just like the WASR 10 being I've heard they look exactly the same and have the same features. But look into a possible WASR or at least shop around a little for the same or similar rifles for a price guide...

Worst feelin in the world is being stoked on a rifle jumping on it and seeing one or the same one a few weeks later for $100 to $200 less than what I just paid.. Which I have done my self due to impulse and no patience..

Just making sure your sure this is THE gun for you before you jump.. Never hurts to be too cautious.

Thanks good info there and I appreciate it. I have called around and everyone seems out in my area of any ak variants. I have also looked at video reviews and found someone who pm'd be who owned one. According to them, They are starting to spike in price. They are also pretty hard to find around now. Those who have them seemed stoked about them. I think I will just go ahead and get it. The gun shop must be under new management, Last time they were total dic*k, This time they were super friendly and helpful. Even called around other shops for me. That right there is worth the extra $$ to me.
