Short Cycling Issues On Mid length BCM Upper

EXACTLY! It is being pushed back just not far enough to allow the next round to be pushed up in front of the BCG, also when the last round is ejected the bolt catch catches the BCG at the neck of the bolt not in front of it like it should. At the time of the incident I was using federal .223 55gr. I used some of that ammo prior with a combination of other rounds I listed with no problem at all. Right now any ammo that I place in the gun causes the same problem. Currently PMC bronze. My rifle is composed of a BCM Recce 16 upper, BCM full auto BCG, stag lower parts kit, spikes tactical lower. The buffer spring and weight are carbine with no H markings on the weight. Length of the spring is...about 11-1/4"

You are lubricating this rifle right? If so what are you using?

I use hoppes cleaning solvent and lucas gun oil to lube it. Oh and to answer your earlier question I run magpul, cproducts, and colt mags.

You said this was a Reece, does it have a long rail with a low profile gas block underneath it? It's possible that right there is causing your problem if the gas block shifted or came loose somehow. Though I though BCM was using pinned blocks on their uppers and not ones held in place with set screws, though that might only be a new thing.

Definitely worth checking. Most rails are very easy to take off to access the gas block.

Yea thats the one, I took off the rail to check the black and its sitting firmly in place. On the underside of the block there is two allen screws held in with red loctite. A real SOB to get off. Also the tube itself is clean however there is a lot of gun powder residue towards the reciever end

You have to apply local heat to the screws to get that stuff to burn off. Red loctite holds tighter than spandex on a bbw. Atleast you know they assembled it with the right materials......
sometimes the socket type allen attatchments will break those loose. if not, heating is the only way.

AGGHHAHHAHAH isn't this the truth! Well i'm off to home depot to see what I can find to assist with the removal of those screws! Also jerry rigged as it might be do u think a lighter will work?

If you go to home depot get one of those mini blow torches they sell. That should do the trick.

I personally use Slip 2000 EWL and apply plenty of it to the rifle, but everyone has their own lube of choice. I used plain old CLP for 5 years on AR's without issue before switching to EWL. I find the EWL stays in place better than CLP.

BCM's gas ports are actually sized CORRECTLY, and PMC ammo is KNOWN to be underpowered. Try some M193, and see what happens. I have a BCM middy myself, and it prefers M193 to PMC ammo.

ok I'll try switching it up to some new lube as well. I'll pick up some new ammo as well. Wont be able to shoot until next week though. Also take it easy on OBama he is sensitive to altitude change.
