Inconsistent QA and tendency for the plates to lose effectiveness around 120F(easily reached where body armor is most needed).

I've never touched it, but the articles and threads I've read on the interwebz all agree that the stuff is more hype than anything else.
Susceptible to high temps, holes in the armor as they break, inconsistent performance.
Army does not allow it if I recall correctly.
