Froglube Solvent

I picked up some froglube today. I noticed on their website that they offer a solvent. My question is do you really need to use the solvent? Isn't the CLP paste and liquid suppose to do the same thing that a solvent would do?

After I treat the gun with froglube and I shoot it. Can I still run a bore brush with froglube liquid down the barrel to clean it out? Or only patches?

From FL's product info brochure on their solvents:

"FrogLube Solvents are designed to quickly attack surface fouling, baked on or filmed residues and other metallic fouling such as lead and copper, while protecting firearms coatings, paints, wood and other materials from the corrosive effects of petroleum-based, flammable and toxic weapons care products."

So my understanding is that you don't need to use the solvent for normal cleaning/maintenance intervals. However, the CLP paste/liquid will only "help prevent" fouling in the barrel but won't necessarily eliminate it altogether. If you notice significant fouling, then use the solvent. If the solvent does what it says per above, I would assume it'll strip off even the FL CLP (depending how long of a soak you do), so reapply CLP after use of the solvent.

Thank you. I guess I'll pick up a bottle just incase I need it. I just finished applying it on my Glock and its not bad.

FrogLube Solvent

FrogLube Solvent was designed to work with FrogLube CLP. The Solvent will cut through copper and lead deposits, but won't nessessarily remove all of it.

Through months of testing with 2 high value .308s, FrogLube determined that having some residue metal deposits was not a bad thing. They cut the strength of the Solvent so that it would remove fouling without etching the barrel. It will dissolve 'dirty' FrogLube, without removing all of it.

Their results included, establishing tighter groups when running a patch of Solvent down a hot barrel after 30-40 rounds, and no change of point of impact on guns sighted in at sea level and shot at 10,000 feet.

This information was given to me by Larry Lasky, based on 9 months of testing various solvents and concentrations.
