    hello everyone

Hello there everyone. I'm new to guns and this forum and would like to say hi to everyone. I'm in the market for a gun. been reading on this forum for a month now and was thinking of purchasing either.
    Glock 17 9mm
    S.W. M&P 9mm
    XD 9mm

But really want a gun that is reliable and kinda cheap priced since i have a 500 dollar budget. also my wife will be shooting the gun as well and she's really small!! 4"11 85lb kinda small. so looking for something with less recoil. maybe something besides these three that i have chosen?

    thanks in advance

    Welcome!

What you're looking at seems to be in the right ballpark. You'll get many different opinions, gotta just test as much as you can and make a decission what suits you.

      TCC?

Welcome OP. Have you shot before or will you both be learning fundamentals? You may want to consider a lower end .22LR to focus on fundamentals and accuracy as the gun will be more accurate than you starting out (usually, hey, there are some naturals out there). It may also be less intimidating for the wife. What you decide to get very much depends on what you're going to be using it for.

        Welcome!

Usually for a new shooter I recommend a .22LR rifle. But if cash is tight and you want to cut to the chase and acquire a practical pistol, those are all reasonable choices.

Another to consider is the Ruger P95 (also 9mm). Not a "pretty" pistol and it has few fanboys, but it's reliable as heck and priced very affordably.

As always, handle before you buy, rent or borrow to shoot for a bit if possible. Get some practice and consider formal training. Ammo costs add up even for 9mm.

              Welcome to CalGuns Dboymboy!

Experience has shown that personal preferences are often hard to predict. I would suggest going to a shooting range and rent a couple of guns to try out and see what is a good fit for you and your lady.

I suggest going to your local gun range that has rentals and rent a few different handguns and see what you and the wifey like.

Welcome aboard! My suggestion concerning your wife, would go to a range that rents hand guns and let her try a few.

Just because your suggestions would work for you, your wife might be a different mater.

Glock, don't buy an imitator. You may want to look at the Glock G-19 instead of the 17. You can till use the longer mags, but it conceals easier then the 17. A 19 fits most women's hands much better then a 17. You may want to get a Glock G-26 also for better concealment. The G-17, G-18 & G-19 mags will fit a G-26. You should check that your wife is OK with whichever gun you are going to buy.

yes i have shot a few guns but i know that isn't enough experience. a little tight on cash but will be saving up few bucks after every pay to pick up a shotgun as well with a gun safe of course.. just want it for home safety..

Cause where i worked the subways next to us got robbed twice. and the Chase bank got robbed as well!! some scarey stuff..

gone to the la gun club , one by peck and another one on amar in hacienda
had her shot glock 17 19 and a 44 mag. it was funny watching her pop off a few 44's since she's so tiny ! lmao but i see she has more control on the g17 which is why i'm leaning towards it.. but i do like the sigs as well.. but a little more pricey

If I were you, I'd get a CZ 75B. They can be had on Bud's Guns for under $500.
If it must be one of those three, i'd go with the Glock. I've owned an XD, and while I liked it, I didn't love it.
