3D Printer Confiscated From Wiki Weapon Project

It wasn't confiscated.
The company which was leasing the device cancelled the contract. IMO, it was a wise call for the company. Its not illegal for the project to print a 3d gun, but in states like New Jersey with specific firearm manufacturing laws it decidedly IS illegal to make a gun in your basement, whether by 3d printer or old school machining.
All it takes is one idiot who buys or leases their device to get caught making lowers in Camden NJ, and its curtains. Liberal legislatures all over the nation in places like NJ, IL, and CA would consider a 3D printer to be the Devil's own work and probably ban them outright -which would have disastrous consequences for the firm which makes these devices. The more prohibitions you have, the less virtuous people will be.
The more subsidies you have, the less self reliant people will be.

The 1911 may have been in wars for 100 years, but Masetro Bartolomeo Beretta was arming the world 400 years before John Browning was ever a wet dream. -
