Guns you regret buying

The "guns you regret selling" thread got me thinking.

What guns have you bought and after a single range trip were just completely upset with your purchase. I have a few that come to mind.

For me the biggest two that come to mind are the Kel Tec P11 and Kel Tec SU-16A

Because of my experiences with those two guns I will never buy another Kel Tec product either.

I have bad experience with Charter Arms Bulldog Pug, don't like it at all. When you shoot 44spl through it, it actually loosen up the screw that's holding the cylinder, also jam the ejector rod, even the screw on the cylinder release got loosen. The trigger sucks, both SA and DA is not acceptable. Finish is not good either, but didn't expect it to be good for the price.

Anything by Raven, Jennings, or Bryco. The definition of a "Saturday Night Special" that helped lead to the creation of the roster. Cheap and unsafe junk. Took lots of them off gangsters over the years.

Hi-Point .380. Bought it for s**ts and giggles as a plinker, and I sold it after the first range trip. It really wasn't a bad gun per se (considering the price), but it just really wasn't that fun to shoot. Something about shooting such a tiny round out of a bulky, top heavy gun just didn't work for me.

Holding that gun feel like holding a 2 lbs hammer, I used to had one too, I agree with you that it is not a bad gun function wise.

It's not that I REGRET my Ruger 556e, rather I didn't NEED to buy it, but I just HAD to listen to my friend who absolutely s**ts on DI guns; I don't mind having to clean a DI gun more often than a piston gun; to me, it feels better than jerking off...

+1 I fully agree, with their Yugo M70 AB2 being the only exception.

Weaver Arms Nighthawk

I once bought a Weaver Arms Nighthawk 9mm Carbine in the mid to late 80's. I can't even remember if I ever fired it and I think I actually gave it away. Probably the cheapest/ugliest/plastic/uzi knockoff thing I ever owned that should fire live ammo.

Taurus Millenium

Kel Tec P11 of its time.


Worked 95% of the time. Others, a round would get hung up and not feed. Including FMJ of differing brands.

Took it to a good smith and even he couldn't get it to feed reliably.


Sold it to a guy explaining what was wrong with it. Didn't want somebody trusting their life to it.

Kimber Elite series, 4" or 4.25" barrel, full size grip. The first ones that came out after the initial launch. Was almost reliable, but in the end, about every 1000 rounds, wasn't.

SPAS-12. It's a heavy, unbalanced, impractical, and unfun gun to shoot. It looked good in the movies, but reality showed me its only asset was the looks.

Kel-tec PF-9. I bought it thinking that all the kinks had been worked out. They haven't.
It stove pipes, double feeds and likes to puke its magazine into the dirt.
