Need a Better Way to Clean!!!

How do all you ak guys go about cleaning out the inside of an ak gas tube and rear sight block? Im am using that corrosive yugo ammo so I want to get it as clean as humanly possible. Yes I know it is an ak and I could leave it covered in horse cr@p and it would still work just fine but I like to take care of my things. For the time being I have been using Hoppe's 9 and A TON of q tips. There has to be a better way.

I don't know what an "ak gas tube and rear sight block" even is, but......

I don't think Hopp's does you any better than plain water for removing the common KCL salt which is what 'corrosive' is all about.

Probably do just as good with spray or squeeze bottle of water, and compressed air, maybe some ElectraClean or BrakeClean, then light spray with WD-40 or Rem Oil(others say any 10-40 just as good but lets stay fancy, and motor oil attracts dirt...so they say).

Flush it out with hot water. The water will flush the salts out, and hot water will evaporate quicker. Then clean it like you normally would.

or if you really are paranoid about water, then place that gun into a hot car inside a black trash bag and just bake that sucker dry.

yeah, the hottness, I've always wanted HOT compressed air but

the laws of physics are against me, as always.

Electric hair dryer is about what I'd come up with, and big burly 12v to 110 convt and big battery.

No, I don't want to use propane as that is about 1/2 water vapor when burned.

I have heard of using warm water and simple green but I was afraid it would speed up the rusting process.

Look for a bottle of SWEET'S bore cleaner at your next gun show. It's made for the SKS/AK47 using corrosive ammo. Use as directed.

It's nasty stuff and may not be allowed for sale in California.
