    1911 Sig or RIA

I have been trying to decide which Sig 1911 I want. I take my time and read a lot of reviews and input. The other day at a gun shop, the owner made melokk at a Rock Island Armory 1911. I was pretty impressed with the fit and finish. The trigger was also very nice.
So now I am perplexed as to what I want. The RIA tactical is pretty nice and half the price of the Sig I was looking at. I know the frames are cast on the RIA, but the price!
Maybe get the sig now and next month get the RIA? I have two Colts and a Glock 21, so I am not .45 poor. The RIA would be a good car gun. Mmm.............what to do?
How about some input on this.
This year will go down in history.... Don't want to offend anybody

The Sig is probably "nicer" (more refined?) but the RIA's are still real solid and i hear the customer service is way better than at Sig. If you go with a RIA get a tactical. The RIA vs SIG price difference is hard to ignore too.

I've got an RIA tactical. Great pistol which I use for USPSA competition. That said, if I had the $$$, I would have bought a Sig 1911.

I own 5 Rock Island Armory 1911's (4 in .45 ACP and 1 in 9mm). I use them for self defense, work, and competition. I love them and have no complaints about RIA 1911's. I'd put any of my RIA 1911's against a Colt or Springfield or Sig 1911 any day of the week! Of course, my RIA 1911's have all been greatly customized by Mark Bunach, the OC Gunsmith. They make excellent platforms for customization. Even if you just leave the gun factory, a RIA Tactical is still a good gun.

Save your hard-earned money and get the Rock Island Armory 1911. Plus, with the money left over, you can get more magazines and ammunition. Cheers!

If money is not an option then the SIG would be my choice. But for less $$ the RIA is hard to beat.. I really like mine especially after a trigger jog, new white dot sights installed and cocobolo grips.

Buy a RIA 1911 and an order of a 1-2000rds of 45acp vs just a SIG 1911 w/o any ammo to To start anyways!

A real 1911 has internal extractor. Just saying RIA FTW

I own both and both are very reliable. The SiG's fit and finish is MUCH better but it should be for a gun that costs about $400-$500 more out the door. NTM, the features are better on the SiG.

Either is a great choice, IMO. Good luck.

And don't listen to the people that say that external extractors are a negative aspect of the SiG. SiG has mastered the external extractor just like S&W has on the 1911 platform.

                        Have the sig. Great gun.

Buy the sig or 2 RIA's.

                          RIA and ammo.

I put 500 rds through my RIA 1911 GI the day I got (after an initial cleaning and lube, of course) 100% reliable.

                            IMO...

                            RIA 1911 Tactical + extra magazines + ammo > SIG 1911

I've got a Sig, my friend has an RIA. They both shoot better than I can, but mine looks/feels a lot better, fit and finish wise.

If I had to do it again, It's hard for me to say that I would or wouldn't get the Sig again(Actually went to the gun short to buy the RIA but got the SIG instead). But I do know that an RIA with some money to spend on mags/ammo/upgrades would be real nice too.

Either way you won't be making a bad choice, they are both great guns IMO.

Edit: If you get an RIA go for the tactical model, for about $50(last time I price checked them) you get a few upgraded things, sights are dovetailed, not fixed. New beavertail and hammer, ambi safety.
The actual value of above $.02 is less than $.01 after taxes.
