Hmmmm.....I would have gone with more lacing holes to really tighten the overall look and fit. But, still looks good as is.

This was my first attempt at the thing so what I did was...I used my New Balance shoes as a general guide for the distance between the holes and then adjusted so the math would work out and the start and end holes were where I wanted them.
As far as "tight" the secret there is to use real leather as the lace and to get it wet...really wet, when you lace it. You pull it as tight as you can but when the leather dries it REALLY pulls it tight. Handy thing to use for the handgrip of a fav walking stick as well.
