Would you take a job at Turners? Is it fun to work there?

I applied to Turners about a month ago, received a pre-interview, phone interview a few weeks ago, and was just called to schedule a sit down interview for tomorrow.

To make a long story short, I have been out of work for some time due to a work injury, I have not worked retail in quite some time and have a general disdain for corporate job life.

This would be a departure from my "normal" line of work (IT management). I think the pay is, to put it mildly, going to suck compared to what I was making.

I was looking at this job as more of a change of pace while getting back into the workforce, a "fun" job. I applied for either management or gun sales. I have a pretty good background of firearms knowledge, and know nothing about fishing. I am old enough and have seen enough to not want to put up with trivial corporate crap.

So to anyone who has worked or known people that have worked there, does this sound like a good idea?

    Thanks

You'll hear first hand the truly *STOOPUD questions*.... so it will have plenty of entertainment value....

I've heard tons of stupid questions there, just as a customer.

Working is better than not working.

Retail can be trying I am sure, but it helps hone your people skills.

      Good luck!

Work is work. Who gives a f**k what the job is like as long as you're getting paid, it's better than being unemployed. Good luck 'OP, if they work on commission I'll buy stuff or Ruger gear from you...

If you can get me discounts, then yes, its worth it.

I would work anywhere. Any job is better than no job. That is the problem with too many people, they only want what they think they deserve. I'd pick vegetables if that was all that was available.

Judging by your post, you aren't going to like the job. "Corporate world" includes dealing with customer service i.e. customer complaints, dumb questions, and BS.

However, it's a better job than unemployment and will get you back working as you've stated. Good luck and let us know which store so we can help you with commission.

I get the idea any work is better than no work, I am asking it anyone knows if turners is a decent company to work for.

Oops, I forgot to mention that part! I've had friends work there; both in management and gun counter/fishing. Sort of a dead end job if you have any ambition past management. However they all liked the job itself. Met some good customers and got to go on work field trips. In the end, my buddies left to further their careers.

Hey if we get someone in there, particularly my two locals(Orange and Norwalk), I would be more than willing to let you help me support my terrible spending habit.
