Question about our horible 30 day wait period.

I just recieved a pretty good amount of money from my tax return and guess what spending most of it on? Anyway, there are 3 guns I want to get from Buds gun shop. I know that the 30 day wait period does not apply to private party transfers. Does it apply to out of state transfers from a gun purchased on line? If so.....is there any way around it at all that any of you have figured out? I dont want to do anything illegal but knowing about a loop hole would be nice. There is nothing worse than having a large sum of $$$$, knowing what you want and knowing you can get it now but having to wait 3 months to get it. I mean, 1 gun a month would mean I would have to wait 3 months to get my last gun. I am just too over anxious to wait that long.

Get an 03FFL and a COE. That exempts you from the 30 day wait.

Hmmm.....Would be nice to have a FFL. Is it a difficult process to get these?

An 03FFL? No, easy as filling out the form in duplicate, writing a check for $35 and mailing. But it only allows you to buy C&R firearms, nothing else. Getting an 01FFL will cost you SIGNIFICANTLY more and mostly likely you'll be denied by your Local LEO.

Even if you are not into C&Rs, one good order at Brownells or Midway can pay for it with the savings that they extend to C&R holders. Other online vendors also extend dealer pricing to us with 03FFLs.

And you can go to the SHOT show with an 03FFL.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Many online vendors give discount to C&R holders. If you buy a lot of stuff online it maybe worth it.

You know it only applies to handguns, right?

You should just buy all three of your guns and let them sit at your FFL for the appropriate waiting period. Buying them all at once will save on shipping from the dealer. Obviously, you will still have to do three separate DROSes over the course of 3 months.

Isn't there something about buying consecutively numbered guns?

Yeah, it is cool to own consecutive numbered handguns. That's about it.

Ya, all the guns I want are handguns. A Glock 19, an S&W M&P45, and a PX4 9. Would Buds Gun Shop ship out all 3 at the same time? I guess its just up to my FFL dealer if they want to hold on to them and transfer them to me through out the course of 3 months right?

Kind of dumb on DOJ's part. I re-read their "faqs" where it states this:

I am a collector of firearms and I want to purchase a pair of consecutively-numbered pistols. Does the one-handgun-per-30-day restriction apply?

No. If you possess a valid federal Curio Relics Collector's license and a valid California Certificate of Eligibility, you are exempt from the one-handgun-per-30-day restriction.

                            (PC section 12072(a)(9)(x))

With C&R FFL and COE, you are exempt from 1 handgun per 30 days rule, even guns are not C&R handguns.

HOWEVER... buying more than two non-C&R handguns in less than 5 days a part will raise another flag, and subjct to be reported to Fed by conducting FFL. (I think its a federal law, not CA law.)
