So last month our regional gun show was held, and I noticed a worn .40 S&W Tanfoglio Witness for sale. Price listed was $360, which would be acceptable-if the magazine it came with wasn't damaged. The previous owner dremel-ed out a hackneyed viewing window by cutting away the entire bottom side of the magazine, so only the front and back of it were intact. In all other respects the pistol was in average used condition and in functional order.
In light of that I asked the owner if he had an EAA Witness .40 cal mag he could replace it with. No dice.
So, I offer $300 on it. He says he'll go no lower than $350.
Goodbye. I didn't hesitate for a second, I shook his hand and walked away from the table. Admittedly im befuddled by his hard line choice-Witness pistols are not exactly hot sellers in this region, so I fail to see what he'd gain by rejecting a likely sale unless he overpaid for the gun. Its doubtful another buyer is willing to take a chance on a gun with a defaced accessory, so that's even more reason to make a deal instead of playing hard to get.
