History has shown public massacres have been known to cause uprises, ralleys, etc.Originally posted by Fortified PeasantTrue, but lets say a few are massacared and it is telivised. Do you think this would inspire people to rally?"As being the first civilized nation we have a gun registration law. The government cannot do what your question claims.Originally posted by Fortified PeasantIf the government eradicated the 2nd amendment in the near future would you hand over your guns?
Oh sure, Washington D.C. can claim that according to process X,Y,Z, civil ownership of firearms are illegal. That decree would be as enforceable as a Washington law banning the Earth from rotating.
There are many states in the Union who have laws on their books which directly state the Feds have no authority to regulate guns built and used in their borders. Unless the cultured Elite want to face governing a United States comprised of New England again, they'd be best served not being so obvious. The more prohibitions you have, the less virtuous people will be.
The more subsidies you have, the less self reliant people will be.

The constitution also requires ratification of a proposed amendment by 3/4 of the states. The Equal Rights Amendment was passed by congress in 1972 but it failed to be ratified
Lincoln did it during the Civil War, exparte Merryman, 1861. Lincoln suspended the writ of habeas corpus. Chief Justice Roger Taney ruled that Lincoln's act was unconstitutional. Lincoln ignored him; in fact Lincoln signed a federal arrest warrant for the Chief Justice, but it was never served"The right to buy weapons is the right to be free"

I will join you!!!A lot of interesting answers.Honestly not sure what I would do.I live alone so if I resisted,my life would be the only one at risk.
Hopefully I would have some time to plan.
Would understand someone with a family not risking it.
Like to think I'd go out in a blaze of glory.

OH PLEASE!!!!!!
90% of the people here on this forum are all talk. this was proven during hurricane Katrina, when the NOPD were confiscating firearms. Many people had their firearms taken, and i dont remember hearing any stories about people resisting the confiscations.
i do believe a lot of you would bury them, but very few would actively resist confiscation.Comment

Not a chance on earth. My wife and I will die defending our civil liberties. I'm not worried about LEO shooting at me so much as the new recruits to the marines, army, and navy that would be following direct orders to do this or that. It would be interesting to watch them get picked off by hunters in the woods though.Comment

I think you make my point perfectly - it would be civil war.Lincoln did it during the Civil War, exparte Merryman, 1861. Lincoln suspended the writ of habeas corpus. Chief Justice Roger Taney ruled that Lincoln's act was unconstitutional. Lincoln ignored him; in fact Lincoln signed a federal arrest warrant for the Chief Justice, but it was never servedComment
