Places to shoot in SD area

Headed down there next week, and during my free time on Friday and Saturday I would like to shoot.

Any recommendations?

I recommend South Bay Rod & Gun Club, it's a little out of the way (45 minutes from downtown SD) but worth the drive. www.sbrgc.org

But it will be hot out there this weekend.

In this heat, I'm going to recommend P2K. One of the few ranges in SD that have the a/c cranking where you actually shoot. You can also shoot all your cheap steel ammo.

Otherwise +1 on sbrgc. Nothing like shooting outdoors.

I usually go to American Shooting Center because it's so close to me, but P2K has the nicest facility. Only problem there is the wait time to get a lane on the weekends.

thanks for the info gentlemen. how long of a wait time on a saturday will P2K be?

Depends. Longest I've had to wait was 1 hr, but it has been a while since I've been on the weekend. Maybe some others will chime in with their experiences or even when the best time to go is. I'm thinking earlier the better because I know at night there are a lot of noobs with their dates and there is nothing worse than shooting next to someone who is trying to showing off. Unless she's hot

If you are hitting P2k on the weekend, get there early and be ready to take their safety test ( a requirement for all first time visitors).

I've had to wait up to 90 minutes on the weekend, thats why I go on Tuesday's.
