Looking for a different carry 9mm

My current primary carry is a KelTec P11, which I like for the size and how compact it is, but I hate the 9# double action trigger that has a pull length longer than a double action revolver. It makes it darn near impossible to shoot a respectable group at the range and it gets me thinking about what those groups would be under stress and the absolute last thing I want is to miss and possibly hit something/someone that isn't my target.

I used to have a Ruger LC9 and while the stacking at the end of the pull was horrible the trigger was much more useable, and I shot the same size groups at 15 yards as I can shoot at 7 yards with my P11. The biggest thing I am not wanting to sacrifice is the capacity for the size my P11 gives me, 10+1 is pretty comforting given the size of the gun, about the same size as the Lc9 only a little thicker.

I currently have my eyes on quite a few different guns, the first of which is another XD9sc. I used to be pretty dang accurate with mine, and only sold it because I was never planning on carrying while I was living in CA. My current HD pistol is an M&P9 and I love the trigger and accuracy on that, and I am sure that an M&P9c would be a great carry piece. Both will give me a few more rounds than my P11 and not be "much" bigger. The other options I am considering are the KelTec PF9 but it is toward the bottom of my list. I am also considering the Beretta Nano and the M&P shield, but I haven't found a single FFL that has one in stock in my area. The nano I am not crazy about, I have held one and it felt good in my hand, a bit bulky for a 6+1 capacity, I'd almost rather have an XD9sc over that given the minimal difference in size but the greater capacity. The last gun on my list is the Bersa BP9cc, it looks like a really nice gun, thin single stack pistol with a grip long enough for me to get all my fingers on. I'm also considering the Kahr CM9, but since I have never shot one and have heard they can be unreliable until broken in and have low end customer service compared to many other manufacturers I may just cut them out of the list, customer service from a manufacturer is of great importance to me.

What compact 9mm are you carrying and what do you like/hate about it?

Personally, I like this one. Definitely qualifies as "different". Maybe too different for what you are looking for?

It is a good all-around DAO pistol with a good cartridge. I really like the small size, but it is a bit thick for a single-stack gun of this length.

I can not get a LTC where I live though, so I don't carry it anyplace except at my house.

Pretty bad-*** little gun, and definitely fits the "different" description. What I ended up doing was a straight across trade of my P-11 for a Ruger SR9c, which was a heck of a come-up. Absolutely in love with that gun now. Took it to the range today and I actually shot a group that was an inch tighter at 10 yards than with my full-size M&P9. The lighter trigger and safety seem to make for a better combination for me, not to mention I still have my 10 round capacity and a 17 round backup magazine, with one in the chamber that gives me 28 rounds of 9mm +P on hand. Nice reassuring feeling along with the 15 rounds of .32acp I have with my BUG and its spare mag.

M&P Shield will be released for CA in October.

Looks to be a great IWB carry gun. Too big for pocket.

I carry both an M&P shield and a Kahr P9. I like the shield. I shoot it accurately though the trigger feels gritty. I like the finish on the Kahr because it shows no holster wear. Both are carried in kydex IWB tuckable holsters.

If I had to choose 1 or the other I would probably go with the M&P because I shoot it more accurately.

I went with two of the Kahr CW9s (one for me, one for wife)---thin, lightweight, smooooth DAO trigger, stainless slide and slightly longer grip compared to CM9. Oh, and these two pistols have been 100% reliable (even thru "break-in") and has a bonus, both shoot right to point of aim!

Not an issue out here in AZ. I actually got to shoot a Shield today. Didn't like it, at all. Didn't feel right in my hand and hated the trigger. I did pick up a Kahr CW9 today and am absolutely in love with it, smooth and relatively light DAO trigger, no stupid safeties to fumble with, great factory sights, and it conceals really easily. It is almost as concealable as my KelTec P32 and just as comfortable to wear IWB. In the cargo pockets of my shorts it also disappears in a pocket holster.

Its funny because I used to see the Kahrs and thought nothing of them, unimpressive looking, simple plain design, but after shooting one I am completely sold. I may even look into replacing my P32 back up gun with a CM9, just want to shoot it first before making that decision and the range I go to doesn't have too many sub-compact sized guns to choose from as rentals.

I like my P-11 it is solid, reliable, accurate, has good capacity, and is very easy to conceal with a belt clip. If I was you I would dry fire and shoot it more to learn to shoot it well even with the heavy and long trigger. I am pretty accurate and can get quick shots on target with mine.

If I was going to replace my P-11 though, I would buy a M&P9c, Shield, CW9, SIG 938, or a Colt New Agent.

Avoid the Kel-Tec PF-9, my Father had one and it was a complete POS. The trigger bar came from the factory out of spec, it would not reliably feed ball ammo let alone any kind of JHP. We wasted over 2000 rounds on it and it never worked right. We tired at least four different factory magazines. The thing was just a complete waste of money. Sad too, because my P-11 is a very reliable firearm and has never failed. It shoots anything it is fed, I even had the hammer pin break and the P-11 kept going without so much as a hiccup. I didn't even notice until I did a complete strip down to clean all of the lint out of it from CC.

                  Good luck

I will likely pick up a Shield soon. I owned an MK40 and would not purchase another Kahr, though I wouldn't discourage anyone for doing so either.

Glock 26. May be a little too thick for your liking but i got mine about 5 months ago and i love it. Some people say it's to hard to conceal but i dont have a problem in shorts and a

+1 for the XD9sc. That's what I carry and it works very well for me. It is light and shoots very accurately for a small pistol.
