I know not everyone owned normal magazines before the ban on "high capacity" or "high cap" magazines but can we, as a group of semi-normal gun owners stop using this asinine phrase? This term was coined by gun-grabbing, pinko antis to make gun owners look bad. We have all heard the squeals:
"Ooooh, what do you need that many bullets for at one time?"
"If we limit the number of bullets in those guns, we can reduce all of the gun violence"
etc, etc, etc.
I know where the phrase come from and why. Antis like to demonize firearms in any way possible. It is also known that Libs love to turn a phrase to this end (ie "Assault Weapons). I don't fault them, it's a proven tactic to advance their goals but I cringe when I hear gun owners use these terms. You don't own an "assault weapon" unless you have illegally converted, built or imported one. The only legal option is to have a registered one. Everything else is a centerfire rifle. And there aren't "high capacity" magazines. They hold the amount of bullets that they were built to hold. Some just have been unnecessarily restricted to an arbitrary number because it made some politicians feel like they somehow advanced the public good while ignoring our growing fiscal crisis. But I guess fiddling, or playing the lyre, is what politicians do best while the world burns around them.
Don't get caught up in allowing language to shape the world around us. The antis get up every day thinking of ways to strip you of your Second Amendment rights, we should be as steadfast in our defense of those rights.
