Heading up to vegas this afternoon for a quick job tonite. Looking for a spot to stop in barstow and LEGALLY shoot. Im hearing conflicting stories about hodge rd. i will be in a work van. Thanx

Hodge is good to go, but you need to be away from the private property around the radio towers. I'd drive at least a 1/2 mile west of I-15. That will get you away from some of the crowds too.
If your going to Vegas, you might want to go farther to the Fort Irwin Rd area. Actually, there's hundreds of square miles of legal shooting area between Barstow and Vegas. Click on the link in my signature for the shooting map.

OP you'll get directions to the holy grail before you get directions to a good personal shooting spot..

Hard to find and already being trashed by idiots most don't want another group going down there and possibly being the straw that broke the camels back...

Everyone swears they clean up after them selves.. But we know and can clearly see most do not.. So don't have your hopes up. Might as well head to Nagasaki lines and take off the BB and 10 caps..

The San Bernardino County Fish & Game Commission has made a map detailing where a person can legally discharge a firearm within San Bernardino County.

I highly suggest using it, if you decide to drive into San Bernardino County to go shooting. That way you do not end up in an area you think is okay for shooting (because it was okay in the past), when it may not be (no longer be).

The map was release two years ago, but it is still current.

I15 N, exit Fort Irwin Rd.
Look for the BLM sign at mile marker 8, take a right, and enjoy the short ride through the canyon.

Good clean area and safe.

Call the BLM office if you want the correct (updated) answer. You can even stop by their office and buy the maps that shows you where and what you can shoot. They do have shotgun only areas so make sure you know what your shooting and where. Have them circle the area for you with a red marker.. that way they cant say anything later on. Every time i go out there i take that map with me.

work van is cool on the fort irwin road blm. Just go slow and look out for areas of the road that have been washed out by rain.
