    Car Gun Safe?

I'm looking for a vehicle safe for a handgun - one that can be secured to the car so it can't be easily removed.

Right now I am looking at the Nanovault NV300 and the Center of Mass In Car Safe.

Anyone have experience with both? Is one made better than the other?

    Any others I should consider?

I have used the Center of Mass safes for several years now. I ordered two, one of each size, both keyed alike.
I think if I was going to order today I would get the combo style instead. (I'm always losing keys.)

I have the Gun Vault Nano and it's too small. It won't close with a holstered gun, so I have to unholster and even take my extra mag out to lock them in the box. I no longer use it to store a gun in my car, but bring it on family trips so I could secure my gun in the hotel rooms. Prevents the kids from getting to it.

I thought about bolting the larger Gun Vault inside the trunk of my car, but decided not too. Figured it would be useless if I need to get to it while driving and taking a gun off in public to secure it in the trunk wouldn't be too smart either.

So far the safest storage I've found is on my hip or if I'm going somewhere quick and can't bring a gun into the facility I just use the glove box and lock it (Very rare).

I've got the Gun Vault Nano, and I'd try the other one. In fact, I might.

The Nano is quite small - as noted above you have to unholster to use it. It's suppposed to come with a slot cut for the security cable to pass through; mine didn't, and the company was no help at all. I ended up cutting a slot myself. Not pretty, but it works. But I came away less than impressed.

I'm looking at car safes as well for storing my CCW but I've gone the other direction and am currently looking at Fort Knox pistol safe. How safe can your gun be in a tin can with a small steel cable and a lock (nano vault)?? Or am I just over thinking this one and a Fort Knox is overkill??
