    Web Belts with Rivets?

Why do some web belts have rivets on them like the WW2 USGI stuff?

    Thanks.

    Rivets? You mean like "eyelits"?

That was a way of attaching stuff to the belt. stuff like canteens and holsters had metal hooks that hooked into the eyelits.

Humph... That "782 gear" was what I got issued in the Seabees. None of this fancy stuff they got today, like those yuppie backpacks that hold water. Water belongs in a canteen. The canteens hang on your belt. And you fill it from a water buffalo. WTF is with these pictures of palleted water in plastic bottles?

I finally found a picture of a canteen cover with the wire hook for the web belt.
The wire goes through the holes in the belt.
