Register collector guns?

Hi all,

I was wondering how do I sell 2 collector rifles (never fired). I bought them from an old guy who had them for years, he never registered them. So if I were to decide to sell them how would I go about it. Any info would be helpful.

If they're over 50 years old and long arms, you don't need to do anything except exchange money with a buyer (WTS ad here, newspaper, craigslist, etc).

There is no such thing as registration of long arms in CA (only assault weapons).

One good thing about a voluntary registration with DOJ, if something happens to it; good chance you'll get it back.

Guy I know won an engraved 12 ga. at a Duck Hunters Convention. He DOJ'ed it for safe keeping.

Thanks. No they aren't that old. The reason I think they are collector; one is a Winchester Model 94 38-55. The other is a Browning 30-40. They are engraved and numbered in a series. They are not super old. I looked up the Winchester mfg in 79 I believe. Someone told me there was no way I would be able to sell them without them being registered so I wanted to get the real scoop

They do not have to be registered, but you must use an FFL to make the transfer to another individual, unless it is a parent/child type relationship.

Thanks Ron, so we pay the transfer fee to the FFL would we have to leave the guns there for a waiting period?
