    Dad's Old Gun

Had coffee with him this morning.

    He turns 91 in November.

Says he got this one when he was 12 and could strike a kitchen match with it.

Who am I to doubt my dad? He was piloting a B-17 at age 24.

    Cool old rifle.

Sounds like a pretty cool dad too.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

I love old school bolt action rifles. Simple to shoot, simple to reload, simple to clean.

What kind of a .22 rifle is that?

Thank you. Brought a tear to my eye remembering my Dad and when he passed along a couple of nice little 22 bolt actions just like those.

I have my Fathers Winchester 1903 which came to him from his Father and came to me at age 12. I wound up with a Remington 512 that Christmas because even at that time the 1903 was expensive to shoot.

Sad to see the Warriors get old, my Father would have been 93 this month.

Thank your Father for our Freedom.

My dad frequently talked about the Savage .22 short pump rifle he had as a kid, wish he had managed to hang onto it througout the years. When he passed away I got his SA M1 rifle and Marlin .22 magnum rifle. Good memories of him.

                            That is awesome,

I hold my Father's guns to a higher value than my own. (sentimental value) I wish I had all of the ones he sold along the way, along with the ones he kept.

I hope my Father lives to be 91 you are very lucky your Father has lived as long as he has.

You have to love those old stories the old men talk about when they are together . "I remember when you used to throw pocket change up in the air and shoot it out of the sky." / "Remember when we deflated the tires on your 46 Ford and road on the train tracks to the next town chasing tail" / "Remember when we used to leave your 46 Ford in gear and shoot varmint from the hood" (the original "ghost ride the whip" or whatever those idiots call it) "Remember how we used to get our girlfriends to reload our guns for us" etc.... Great stories.

Thanks for this post. My dad is 82 and still ripping along, but sold all the guns we had as kids...
