    Ruger finally giving up?

I can't remember seeing anything about this here and a quick search didnt reveal anything either...

"** Chambered in the popular and proven .223 Rem. cartridge and shipped with two 20-Round magazines."

So looks like Ruger now ships minis with 20 round mags...

Also in the latest quarterly report (http://www.ruger.com/corporate/PDF/2...lderLetter.pdf)
    they say:
Ruger has not participated in some of the fastest growing segments of the consumer firearms market. These segments, which include AR-15 style rifles, compact carry pistols and revolvers, and striker-fired, auto-loading pistols, have recently been the engines of growth in the consumer firearms market. Several of our top distributors have experienced growth rates in one or more of these categories in excess of 40% for the first nine months of the year. We plan to develop products for several of these markets.

Maybe they're finally coming to their senses....

Since the Ruger family no longer controls the company, there will probably be some major shifts in the company.

Ruger's always made a quality product that's 5 years behind the marketplace. They are durable, though, just not very exciting compared to what else is out there. The NRA-14 is a good example...add a black stock and some medallions, raise the price, and then wonder why nobody's bowled over.

20-rounders have always been available, though they're a lot easier to find within about the last 18 months. Someday Ruger may figure out the mini's main competition is KelTec.

I kind of thought the 5-round magazines were the only good thing about the mini. They let you carry the rifle one-handed, comfortably.

Putting 20 rounds in a mini-14 is like putting lipstick on a chicken. When they really come to their senses, they'll start making AR's.

What's gonna' get customers to select a Ruger AR v. another brand??

It won't be engineering, that was taken care of in the 1950's. Do you think they can out-tactical Larue et al.??

Fact remains Ruger is not on the leading edge of innovation, to say the least.

If it's decently accurate - not a tackdriver mind you, but good - I'd be willing to pick one up for 700-800. Mini14 ergos suit me pretty well.

Hey, if Ruger decided to sink some more money back into the XGI and make a decent .308 semi, I might be willing to get one of those as well.

I hope you are right, and that the "shift" is towards bankruptcy.

I agree. My mini 30 is the only gun I've ever sold because I didn't like it. It jammed a lot and was wildly inaccurate.
