This thread may save your life one day. Probably not.

It's early evening. Everyone else is out & I'm just at home polishing up a part in my hd g19. Had to disassemble the slide to get to the part. I hear a knock on the door.

Ended up being nothing. Just some real estate lady handing out flyers. Still, for that split second, I felt vulnerable. My home gun was disassembled and the key to the gun safe was in the other room. What did I learn? Always have another gun near by when you're cleaning (and I guess also 'own at least two guns'). Others already know this, I'm sure. I wouldn't say I'm paranoid, just a little pessimistic.

What about the Remington 1100 wired to the doorbell?

    Were you cleaning it too?

One of life's little wake up calls. Good thing it wasn't a land shark. So now will your secondary weapon be in place?

What are the chance of a home invasion? What are the chance of a home invasion at the exact same time you are cleaning your gun? I bet you are more likely to get struck by lightening. You better not go outside!!!

It reminds me of the movie Silverado
Scott Glenn is out target shooting with his pistol and rifle, practicing for a big shootout. After he empties his weapons, the badguys pop out exclaiming "You're empty!"

Two is one. One is none.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

What are the odds of being in a shooting of any kind, yet alot train for the situation. The odds may be small but they are there, i always clean 2-3 at a time so i have another by my side ready to go.
