    gun buy back

I have a POS baby browning knock off. Its a MAB .25 made in France . The gun never really worked right and the last 30 years it has sat and rusted up. About a year ago I soaked it in navel jelly and reblued it for fun. Still looked like S. I took it to a smith for reassembly, he could'ent get it to run. So tonight I put it back togeather in hopes of getting $250 at the buy back. My question is how closely do they inspect the firearms, on this gun the slide racks, the trigger moves and the grip safety moves but when you pull the trigger theres no hammer fall(noise) THis gun does not work and I really doubt it ever will, I mean the thing was rusted shut, its crap. Oh yeah when you insert the mag, the trigger no longer moves, not to mention its next to impossable to insert and especially remove the mag. How closely do they examine the guns, its pretty clear that this gun is non-functioning, any gun guy could tell that in a second. Im hoping they have some do-good smuck looking things over,it should pass a non expert. Whos done the buy back route and how much can you get away with?

I highly doubt they dry fire it for saftey purposes and it's also very hard to be knowledgable about every make and model so I would say they just ID/look it over.

This is true, and they will like it when you give the gun to them this way. I have been to a couple, they barely look at the guns. As long as it looks and feels real you are good to go. They might rack the slide but they definitely won't pull the trigger. If you zip tie it open they won't even check the action.

Just make sure it's not worth $1000 at the Antique Roadshow.

I saw the same gun on gun broker, 90%, $200. My gun is 2%. I was thinking of putting a cable lock on and losing the key. Man that $250 will sure hit the spot.

Is the buy back just for handguns and "assault weapons"? Or will they take any firearm?

I don't know how closely they look at the guns, but I'll find out this Saturday. I'm going to the church near West Grand Ave with my Hi-Point. It functions, so I have no worries of being rejected. I only hope they don't have a 1 gun per person limit.

The flyer I saw on the floor of an AC Transit bus this week said no limit number of working unloaded handguns and "assault weapons." It also said "Don Perata created the Assault Weapons Ban, help him make it work!" I could really see your average street thug going "Damn, I like shooting people with my AK but I really love Don Perata and want to help him make his law work."
The above does not constitute legal advice. I am not your lawyer.
