    Ammo Purchasing?

I think I have this straight:

Rifle ammo: need to be 18 years of age.

Pistol ammo: need to be 21 years of age.

How about pistol ammo that can be used in a rifle?

    Anything else I'm missing?

.22 LR can be sold to 18 and older if they are intending for the ammo to be used in a rifle. Interestingly enough our policy is to not sell any .22 LR to anyone under 21 no matter what.

That one is a little different. Generally no places will sell any handgun ammo to anyone under 21. Kinda sucks since several rifles do indeed use 9mm and 45ACP.

If for example, I want to get rid of some 7.62x54R (Mosin Nagant) to someone who wants to buy it over the Internet. All I got to do is check their ID for 18 years of age?

Basically you don't have to check for ID. You can state it is the buyers responsibility to know their local laws and be eligible to possess ammo including being old enough to lawfully purchase and possess the ammo. To be on the safe side though you could ask for ID to ensure they are over 18 for the 7.62.

You can buy 9mm, etc for use in a rifle if you are 18+, but few are comfortable selling it.

Damn, I had a Marlin in .38 and .357 back during my college years, I always wondered why I couldn't get any ammo for it...
