I took good digital pics of the gun and it's serial number before I sent it to them. No DROS copy, original copy of reciept has gun oil on it and it erased the serial

I would suggest that you contact the DOJ, if it was DROS'ed to you, it will be on the Automated Firearms System Records report. S&W's records are entered by a human, and while unfortunate, not out of the question that an error was made in the data entry. Nobody can argue if you have a DOJ report in hand.

Straight from the DOJ FAQ page:

Can I get a list of the firearms for which I am listed as the purchaser, transferee, or owner?

Yes. To obtain a list of firearms listed in your name, complete and submit an Automated Firearms System Records Request [PDF 21 kb / 1 pg] form to the Automated Firearms Unit, P.O. Box 820200, Sacramento, CA 94203-0200. The letter must be signed, notarized, and include a photocopy of your photo ID card (ie., driver's license or DMV ID).

I actually got a call back Monday about this issue and was told it was an input error and the gun is still in their possession and they'll mail me an invoice. Funny thing though is they emailed me one the week before. I called back today and told the customer service guy I'm getting pissed and they need to take a cc number and have the work done or send the gun back to me. It's been two months now and I'm tired of waiting. I got the half assed "sorry" from "dave" down there but that doesn't mean a whole lot the guy sounds like he could really care less about this whole situation....Said he'd call the repair part tomorrow and get back to me.
I asked for the address for who's in charge so I can write the guy a letter about how much S&W sucks but it's probably not anyone too important.
I'm canceling the SW1911 I just ordered and I'm not buying another S&W again. I'll pick up another 1911 from SA and get Taurus revolver's in the future...

Got a message from S&W a min. ago. Still no estimate for the work and now it's a 2-3 wk wait on the porting and another wait for the trigger job...Horrible cust. service. Don't buy a S&W or get performance center work done on one. What a waste of time.
