6.8 vs. 5.56

In the middle of a build. Still weighing between 6.8 and 5.56. Thoughts?

I use the 6.8 for hunting and the 5.56 for everything else. Ammo for the 6.8 can be pricey so unless you have deep pockets it might not be the route to take for plinking. I have the Stag 7H and it has been crazy accurate with the SSA, Hornady and my reloads, mine really likes the Barnes 110 on top of H332.

Thanks, I have a 22LR upper on the way for plinking, I was thinking of using the 6.8 for hunting as well. What are you taking down with your 6.8?

6.8SPC II has 40% more knockdown power within 250 yards.

Great round for hunting - Only 26 rounds will fit in 5.56 30rd mags.

If you're killing paper don't bother -

But if you're looking for a great all-purpose round that is legal to hunt with -

Go with the 6.8 - Or both.

Just swap the upper and followers.....

6.8 is better for hunting than 6.5 grendel, correct? But 6.5 is better for long range paper harvesting? Thinking about 6.5 for my next one...

6.8 - great round.

5.56 - plentiful and cheap.

I built my AR in 6.8, I love it but as of now the ammo is still kinda pricey. I want to use the gun for hunting due to the larger bullet and better ballistics. But I plan to start reloading my own ammo so the cost might go down a bit.
