Is this idea new? LUCC holster

Walking around today I was thinking how we could try to level the playing field and stay within the law. I was thinking there must be a way to incorporate a trigger lock in a conceal holster that would allow you to carry within the laws of LUCC. Not as ideal as conceal carry but better than no weapon at all. Is this the new money making idea of a lifetime or am I late to the party? Additionally, do most of the states that require a LTC allow LUCC? Perhaps this could be a 48 (except NY and NJ) state universal carry solution.

that seems quite practical, but i believe that it has to be out of reach (if driving in a car)

It can't be a simple trigger lock, the law requires the firearm be contained in a "fully enclosed locked container". Somebody here built an Arduino based RFID opened container (I think he had a setup with a RFID ring or something), but it was pretty bulky. There have also been some jerry-rigged flap holster locks and things like that.

It can be molded in the shape of the gun. Perhaps this rules out carrying full framed 1911's for most people but Compacts and M&P Shield sized guns are a possibility.

How consistent are the laws for allowing LUCC across the country?

A nice locking suitcase would work, but if your LUCC don't you have to be going to and from your car or a legal shooting place? You can't just carry it around with you all day right?

Keep it in a backpack specifically designed to lock using the pull tabs. A small 3 number code locking device should suffice. Just remember you cannot have a loaded magazine in the magazine well of the pistol. There you have it.... just in case a you ever come across an 'Active Shooter' scenario, you should have plenty of time to unlock it, load it, defend yourself and others. 511 makes some nice 'containers'... but I suggest something low profile and doesn't scream 'look at me with my cool looking O.D. green bag from 511'. As far as using it in a completely different type of scenario were you are the target and no one else. Then it is useless. Just hand over the goodies Another answer is to vote with your feet and seriously look into moving to another state. I know... easier said than done. PEACE

Yes you can. Because its carried locked and unloaded you can even pass through school zones.

like others have said, that wouldnt work because it needs to be fully enclosed. a small bag from maxpedition might work for a sub compact gun and just look like you have a funny phone case.

I wouldn't carry it this way. Concealed is concealed. Advertising that you are carrying a gun that is difficult to get to much less unloaded screams..."TAKE ME!" (to the bad guys)
