I'm glad those naive people are finally realizing that only they can protect themselves. I bet you many of them at the theature thought things would be different if they had a gun to shoot back. It's just ironic. The victims where at the theater watching a movie about a vigilante hero who took matters into his own hands when the cops were incapable of handling crime.

Now those people buying guns will become our ally. They will soon realize that they cannot buy weapons to protect themselves.

I wonder how much of this is people worried that Colorado might consider restrictive laws, versus those looking for self-protection? It seems like buying frenzies usually follow in the wake of fears of new restrictions...

It's an arms escalation scenario, and it makes sense sort of. Someone ELSE has a gun, so now you are behind in the arms race, so you buy a gun. No one wants to be the guy without the gun.

This is good and bad. It means MORE OTHER PEOPLE have guns.

In an ideal, selfish world, I would be the only one with a gun.... but then you wouldn't like that and would want a gun too.

Anyway, this article is just showing that basic truth. Guns can hurt and save, we just don't know what "other" people are going to do with their guns. The closest thing we have is to at least do a background check on people, but that doesn't indicate what they MIGHT do.

The disadvantage we have in CA is that we (generally) can't get LTCs. So a bad guy, who doesn't give a crap will be carrying, while our guns are in the safe back at home.
